Church Vitality Assessment

We have also been selected to participate in a brand-new Vitality Assessment being launched by the Council of Bishops. Only five annual conferences are piloting this project—and out of our entire conference, our church has been chosen as one of the first to take part. This is truly an honor and a chance to help shape a tool that may one day be used across the denomination.
The assessment is not a scorecard—it is a diagnostic guide, much like a spiritual health check-up. Its purpose is to help churches understand their current reality and plan faithfully for the future.
From the Bishop’s introduction:
Vitality is not merely about numbers or resources, but the spiritual, relational, and organizational health of a congregation. A vital church is spiritually vibrant, relationally connected, missionally focused, and financially sound.
The assessment helps leaders:
- Engage in honest dialogue.
- Identify strengths and opportunities for growth.
- Steward spiritual, relational, and financial resources wisely.
- Strategically and prayerfully plan for the future.
Whether a church is thriving, transitioning, plateaued, or struggling, this process provides clarity, accountability, and renewed missional focus.
Both of these opportunities position our church for meaningful, Spirit-led growth. They will help us strengthen our leadership, sharpen our vision, and build a healthier foundation for the years to come.
I am excited about what God is opening before us and look forward to discussing these opportunities with you.
